How You Get Involved Matters
When you choose Clarke, you are choosing to become the best version of yourself. That doesn’t just mean in academics or athletics, but how you spend your time outside of class and competition, too. Joining a group and attending events on campus challenges you to grow, introduces you to new friends and opportunities, and are a lot of fun!
Residence Life: Our Residence Life Staff and the Resident Assistants on each floor plan programming every semester for the entertainment and education of our students. We highly encourage you to attend these events—they are the first step to feeling at home on campus.
Arts @ Clarke: The Edward J. and Cathy Gallagher Arts at Clarke series seeks to inform, entertain, and inspire through art in all its forms. From live performances to gallery exhibits, check out all we have to offer.

Student Clubs and Organizations
Student-led organizations are a great way to get involved and cover a range of topics and experiences. Whether you are looking for something tied to your major, your hobbies, or you want to try something new, there is an option for you! Don’t see the club you are looking for on the list? Our Student Affairs Office can help you start a new organization!
Biology Club is open to all students interested in any aspect of Biology, not just majors. Past events include plant sales, trips to the nearby Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium, and more.
Black Student Union exists to create a safe and supportive student community by engaging students of all races and cultural backgrounds. We host events like our Back to School Barbeque and Black History Night each year.
Black Male Leadership Society offers mentorship and support to young Black men under the guidance of Will Hudson, Director for Engagement. We also host bowling nights and volunteer in the Dubuque community to build stronger connections on and off campus.
Cast & Crew Club invites students with an interest in all areas of theatre production from lighting, directing, and set design to acting and musical performances. The Club typically hosts two productions a year, with workshops and fundraising events in between.
Ceramics Club is open to all majors and guides students in the process of making, working, firing, and using clay. We host Raku Nights, a special woodfire technique for ceramics, as well as pottery sales and planting events in collaboration with Biology Club.
Clarke Activities Board serves as the official campus-wide programming organization which selects, promotes and produces a variety of quality entertainment opportunities for the Clarke Community, including hypnotists, comedians, and more.
Clarke Association of Nursing Students strives to provide its members with opportunities to serve as leaders with the profession of nursing and in the community. We host Blood Drives, Vaccine Clinics, and other educational opportunities that give you patient experience while keeping our community healthy.
Clarke Association of Student Athletes provides a voice for all student-athletes by offering a platform for student-athletes to discuss concerns and facilitate effective communication between all aspects of Clarke Athletics.
Clarke Inclusive Games raises awareness and educates the community on the importance of inclusion in our everyday lives. Clarke Inclusive Games works with local disability services organizations to host dances, softball games, and other events.
Clarke Organization of Student Physical Therapists works to create connections between all physical therapy class levels and increase awareness of the Clarke Physical Therapy Department and its activities. We host 5K fun runs, walking assistive device drives, and other health-focused activities throughout the year.
Clarke Student Association is the student governing body of the university. CSA acts as the voice of the student body and representatives meet with the Clarke President and Vice Presidents regularly.
Clarke University Dance Marathon is a student-run organization consisting of year-long fundraising by its participants in hopes to provide care and support for children and families being treated at the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital. They cap off each year with an 8-hour dance party open to tall of Dubuque.
Future Young Professionals is a branch of Young Professionals of Dubuque. FYP creates connections between students and young professionals by offering opportunities like mentoring, mock-interviews, and job-shadowing, as well as on-campus speakers and events.
Hispanic Student Union provides an opportunity for Latinx and Hispanic students and others to come together to showcase and celebrate culture at Clarke. This includes Day of the Dead celebrations, dinners highlighting Hispanic cuisine, and more.
CU Authentically provides a supportive, safe social setting for gays, lesbians, bisexuals, transgender persons, their friends and supporters, as well as any other interested party recognizing sexual diversity on campus. The group has hosted Loud in the Library and similar events on campus and in partnership with the faculty and staff Ally Network and other groups at Dubuque colleges and in the community.
Makers Pride Sew Club is an organization where we let the creativity in our heads flow through our hands. Whether you have vintage pieces you want to keep or wish to make your own personalized clothes, the MPSC allows for hands-on skills to develop and strengthen. Learn to sew, mend, and more.
Math Club is aimed at pushing the boundaries of what is thought of as math. Members of any major and math background (including no math background!) are welcome, and encouraged to get the Clarke community excited about using their creative minds to connect everything to math including caroling, pie throwing, pizza, and many other activities.
Psychology Club strives to educate the campus community on current issues in the field of psychology and build connections among students interested in psychology. In the past, the club has hosted True Crime Watch Parties and other events.
Queen In You exists to create a safe and supportive community for all members, with a special focus on women of color. We’ve hosted Jeopardy Nights and invited speakers to campus, as well as more casual events where students can hang out and talk openly about their experiences.
Sport Management Club strives to enhance the professional development of future sport managers or any major by fostering relationships between students and the sport industry. This includes inviting speakers from the sports industry to campus, or touring sporting facilities like the ImOn Ice Arena and Field of Dreams Movie Site.
Teachers for Tomorrow is open to all education majors and strives to provide experiences and connections to education majors that will help members become better educators. In the past, the club has worked with the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Dubuque and other youth-focused organizations to host activities and events.
Tenth Muse Literary Magazine celebrates the boundless creativity of student authors and artists eager to share their unique voices. Join the board to shape the magazine, or contribute individual poetry, prose, and artwork.
