Fourth Annual Clarke Day Raises $192,000

By Clarke News  |  October 2, 2017

Thursday, Sept. 28, kicked off the fourth annual Clarke Day, a day in which Clarke University alumni, students, faculty, staff, and friends expressed their Clarke Pride by donating to the University and posting on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat using the hashtag #ClarkeDay.

This was the most ambitious giving effort in Clarke Day’s history, and, at the end of the day, the University reached 763 donors, surpassing the donor participation goal. Since the goal of 750 donors was achieved, the University received a $50,000 challenge grant sponsored by the Clarke University Board of Trustees. Therefore, preliminary results indicate that Clarke Day raised more than $192,000 for Clarke. The funds raised will support a multitude of programs including student scholarships, academic and enrichment programs, athletic teams, and much more.

During the 24-hour timeframe, more than 2,500 interactions were shares across all four social media platforms as well as nearly 17,000 story views on Instagram and Snapchat. The posts ranged from alumni reminiscing on their time at Clarke to pets sporting Clarke gear. For more information on Clarke Day, visit clarke.edu/clarkeday.

Clarke President Joanne Burrows, SC, Ph.D., said, “We are so thankful to all the generous donors who made this our most successful Clarke Day to date. This day of memories and pride reminds us that our Clarke family extends far beyond campus, around the country and even around the world. Social media has provided a wonderful platform where we can all connect and share our love for Clarke.”
