Biology is a rapidly expanding, widely diverse discipline embracing all aspects of life. The department is committed to ensuring that our biologists are well-prepared for the challenges of the future.
Courses are offered in the basic disciplines of biology: molecular, cellular, organismal, ecological, and evolutionary. Emphasis is on the interrelationships among these divisions. These learning opportunities feature investigative laboratory experiences.
The curriculum is designed to prepare students for graduate programs in the life sciences and professional programs in medicine, dentistry, and physical therapy. It can also prepare graduates for highly competitive entry-level positions requiring a BS-level background in biology.
The department offers the bachelor of science degree, the bachelor of arts degree, as well as the BS or BA degree in biology with secondary education certification.
