CSI Open House is Sunday

By Clarke News  |  September 5, 2013

The public is invited to an open house at Clarke University’s new Center for Science Inquiry on Sunday, Sept. 8, from 1 to 3 p.m.You can take a peek inside this fabulous new building, which will help Clarke meet its goal of teaching the science of the future for years to come. There will be self-guided tours, souvenirs and refreshments.Clarke’s 46,000-square-foot, three-story Center for Science Inquiry opened in August. The facility provides flexible and modern spaces designed to seamlessly integrate lecture and lab areas while fostering a collaborative, hands-on learning environment. The result is access to the most update-to-date teaching practices implemented by Clarke’s top-notch faculty. The science facility was designed with not only formal learning spaces, but also informal gathering spaces to enhance collaboration. It creates an atmosphere in which students can move from a casual study group in a common area to a very specific research project in an advanced lab with little transition. The $13 million facility is located on Clarke Drive and is connected to Catherine Byrne Hall. Clarke University is a Catholic, liberal arts and sciences university dedicated to preparing students who positively impact their workplace, family and community. Academic offerings include more than 40 undergraduate liberal arts and pre-professional programs, a robust adult degree program and six graduate degree programs.  The Clarke Crusaders compete in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) with 16 varsity teams. Founded in 1843 by the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Clarke is located near the Mississippi River in the thriving city of Dubuque, Iowa.
