Clarke University Presents, “Almost, Maine” November 18-21

By Clarke News  |  November 1, 2021

The Clarke University Theatre is proud to present John Cariani’s romantic comedy ALMOST, MAINE. The performance runs from November 18-21 in Terence Donaghoe Hall on the Clarke University campus. The November 18-20 performances will start at 7:30 p.m; the November 21 performance is at 2 p.m.

Ticket prices are $10 for general admission, $7 seniors, $5 non-Clarke students, and free for alumni. Tickets will be available at the door.

As a series of nine playful and surreal vignettes, John Cariani’s Almost, Maine explores “one deeply cold and magical Midwinter Night, as the citizens of Almost—not organized enough for a town, too populated for a wilderness— experience the life-altering power of the human heart. Relationships end, begin, or change beyond recognition, as strangers become friends, friends become lovers, and lovers turn into strangers.”

“We are so excited to be returning with a live theatrical experience! Almost, Maine is a heart-warming affirmation of the complexities of love and we are thrilled to showcase a cast comprised of Clarke students, faculty and staff and Dubuque community players,” said Joe Klinebriel, Director and Clarke University Professor of Drama.

The cast includes Clarke University students Alannah Walker, Hanna Hoftender, Haley Kline, Kathryn Allen, Clarke Drama alumni Brenna Burgart and Alex Dean, Clarke staff members McKenna Smith and Faith Brehm, Clarke faculty members Sunil Malapati and Joe Klinebriel, and Dubuque community players Christian English, Michael Storm and Logan Eigenberger. Almost, Maine is stage managed by Clarke student Martin Santos.  Emeritus Ellen Gabrielleschi returns as technical director as well as scenic and lighting designer. Clarke Drama alumnus Alison English returns as costume designer.
