Clarke to Offer New Doctor of Nursing Tract

Clarke University is pleased to announce the opening of an additional concentration for the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP).  Beginning with the fall 2014 semester, Clarke will offer the DNP with a concentration in Nursing Education and Organizational Leadership (NEOL).Clarke University has been a leader in Nursing Education for more than 30 years.  In 2011, Clarke began offering the DNP with a concentration in Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP). The American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) urges nursing programs to meet the changing demands of the nation’s complex health care environment by preparing nurses that serve in specialty positions with the highest level of scientific knowledge and practice expertise possible. “We are excited to be able to offer doctoral education for clinical nurses, nurse educators, and nurse leaders who will guide future health care delivery and improve patient care quality,” said Dr. Jan Lee, Ph.D., RN, chair of Nursing and Health at Clarke.Beverly Malone, PhD, RN, FAAN, CEO of the National League for Nurses (NLN) asserts “In practice disciplines like nursing, it is especially important that educators and practitioners alike be able to evaluate and demonstrate links between educational outcomes and patient care quality.” Nurses interested in Clarke’s DNP program may begin classes in the fall for either the NEOL or FNP concentrations. Clarke admits students at the BSN or MSN level and tailors coursework to achieve the DNP outcomes. Applications are currently being accepted.Clarke’s DNP program is an accredited program through AACN and the Iowa Board of Nursing.
