Alumni Spotlight: Marcela Fajardo ’26
As told to Jazz Daughtrey ’27, Marketing & Communications Intern
Originally from Honduras, Marcela came to Clarke University unsure of her major but was open to new experiences, people, and opportunities. She discovered her passion for business through hands-on involvement and her natural love for connecting with others. What started as curiosity is now a clear direction to a major in Business Administration.
Throughout her time at Clarke, she has made a strong impact across campus while being heavily involved in the Clarke Association of Student Athletes and has served as Clarke Student Association Senator and Admissions Tour Guide. These clubs and student employee roles gave her opportunities to help prospective students and make them feel welcomed. She’s also contributed as a member of her soccer team’s leadership council, volunteered with the Dubuque Regional Humane Society, and participated in Campus Ministry. Her involvement earned her the 2026 Francis J. O’Connor Memorial Award, the highest honor given to a graduating senior.
These experiences shaped not only her career goals but also her perspective. After graduation, she will begin her career with a consulting company, where she hopes to use her skills and experience to help others, build strong relationships, and make a lasting impact. While reflecting on her experiences her advice for freshman was “The only way you will learn is by doing it, so go do it… Don’t fear failure.”
