Athletics

Lacrosse Statistician, 2 positions
Timeframe:  Spring Only
Hours per Week:  2 hours per game

Purpose of Job:
Compile lacrosse stats for all men’s and women’s home lacrosse games.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Student will serve as a spotter and will learn in-game stat program.

Job Qualifications:
Knowledge of lacrosse. Willing to learn in-game stat program.

Cuttie Mascot Performer, 2 positions

Purpose of Job:
Perform as Cuttie the athletic mascot during athletic games

Duties & Responsibilities:
Wear mascot costume and entertain crowd and kids.

Job Qualifications:
Must enjoy and interact with the crowd.

Audio / Visual

Audio Visual Intern, 2 positions
Time Frame:  Fall/Spring
Hours per Week: 10

Purpose of Job:
Work on-campus events where A/V is required. Assisting A/V director in maintaining and organizing A/V equipment. Learn how to use higher level lighting, camera, and sound equipment.

Duties & Responsibilities:
A/V interns will work with the Director of Audio / Visual Services as well as the IT department in maintaining, troubleshooting, and operating campus AV equipment. Interns will be responsible for setting up and working on-campus events. Evening-time availability is a must.

Job Qualifications:
Basic operations of audio visual equipment.

Business

Office Assistant, 1 position
Time Frame: Fall Only
Hours per Week:  2-4

Purpose of Job:
Provide administrative assistance in the Business Department.

Duties & Responsibilities:
The student worker for the Accounting and Business Department will assist with general office duties, including, but not limited to, creating Word and Excel documents, assisting with research and data collection/entry of business department alumni, making copies, filing, and other duties as assigned by the Office Manager.

Job Qualifications:
Must be reliable and have a schedule that will allow a total 4 hours/week Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Cook, 8-15 positions

Hours Per Week: 5-20

Purpose of Job: Assist in Food Service preparation.

Duties & Responsibilities: Cooking, Sanitation & Customer Service.

Wage: $8.00/hr.

Note:  Student workers receive a free meal during their work shift.

Campus Ministry

Community Life Student Worker, 1 position
Time Frame:  Fall/Spring
Hours per Week:  10

Purpose of Job:
The purpose of the position is to promote Campus Ministry’s programs and events through flyer design, social media campaigns, and word-of-mouth. An additional purpose is to foster community among those who are part of Campus Ministry.

Duties & Responsibilities:
In addition to general office tasks, such as answering phones, light cleaning/organizing, and making copies, the student markets all campus ministry events, maintains the campus ministry schedule and bulletin boards, and plans alcohol-free, positive social offerings to promote community building.

Job Qualifications:
* Have experience with graphic design, event planning, and social media engagement.
* Have a desire to engage people in the Clarke community in campus ministry.
* Prefer candidates with knowledge of programs such as In-Design or Canva, Ad-Astra, The Source, Outlook, Instagram.

Communication

Crux Contributing Staff, 3 positions

Purpose of Job:
To contribute content to The Crux (clarkecrux.com)

Duties & Responsibilities:
Write at least 1 publishable story about Clarke students every two weeks, as arranged with the Editors (podcasts or videos reports once a month may also be okay)
· Take pictures of Clarke students, as arranged with the Editors
· Meet Editors’ standards & expectations for quality of submissions.

School Tutoring / Teacher Assistant, multiple positions

Purpose of Job:
To provide teacher and student support in local schools.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Work with students in elementary, middle school, or high school. Duties include, but not limited to: tutoring and general classroom teacher assistance.
Students must be professional and reliable.  Students will need to have transportation to area schools or walk to schools close to Clarke.

Job Qualifications:
Preference of education students with experience working with children.

Engagement and Intercultural Programs

EIP Student Assistant – Cultural Specialist, 1 position
Time Frame:  Fall/Spring
Hours Per Week:  10

Purpose of Job:
• To serve as a representative of Clarke University and the Division of Student Life.
• To complete tasks and projects for the Student Life and Engagement and Intercultural Programs Offices.
• Assist students to be better connected and engaged in the Clarke University community.

Duties & Responsibilities:
– Maintain office hours in the Multicultural Center.
– Assist in office, which may include public relations outreach, crafting, administrative duties, and being present at programs.
– Assist with program development and implementation of campus-wide programming and events, with an emphasis on diversity and leadership-centered programming.
– Develop and maintain a catalog of campus and community resources and businesses, which support multicultural identities and initiatives.
– Maintain student life bulletin boards and social media sites.
– Serve on the campus Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee (as schedule allows).
– Contribute to the mentorship of International students with adjustment to U.S. culture.
– Must be a current, full-time Clarke University student in good standing.

Institutional Advancement

Institutional Advancement

Institutional Advancement Intern, 2 positions
Time Frame:  Fall/Spring
Hours per Week:  20

Purpose of Job:
To support the Institutional Advancement team’s administrative duties in regards to maintaining the annual fund and alumni relations programs.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Duties will include the preparation of mailings, supporting the data gift specialist, administrative assistant, alumni, and prospect managers. Responsibilities include assisting with Homecoming preparation, photo research, general database updates, and keeping office materials organized. The Institutional Advancement team will depend on this individual to gather student feedback on new initiatives and complete time-sensitive projects for our alumni and donor constituents. There will also be other miscellaneous tasks as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

Excellent listening and oral communication skills, as well as maintaining confidentiality and ethical decision-making, are required. Attention to detail, timeliness, and accuracy are a must. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and knowledge of Clarke’s campus life is preferred.

Library

Library Service Desk/Nights and Weekends, 3 positions
Time Frame:  Spring
Hours Per Week:  Average of 8-10 with possibility of more

Purpose of Job:
The library service desk worker works under the supervision of the library director, and is responsible for helping to manage the circulation desk, and responding to informational, directional, and library policy questions.  This position will be responsible for handling book check in and check out,  helping troubleshoot computers and other office equipment, assisting with copier, printers, and  upkeep of the library.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to all policies and laws regarding confidentiality of patron records
  • Answer basic informational/directional questions about the library, and communicate library policies effectively and courteously
  • Maintain a professional atmosphere in the library
  • Check books and other materials in/out and maintain patron records
  • Help patrons locate materials in the stacks (book shelves)
  • Explain our electronic resources and demonstrate their usage
  • Troubleshoot and provide basic computer, copy machine, scanner, and printer assistance
  • Fill printers and copier with paper and toner
  • Report maintenance or security problems (lights out, broken furniture, plumbing issues, etc.) to supervisor, or to security or facilities personnel.
  • Be responsible for opening and closing procedures
  • Answer phone and transfer calls
  • Pick up books around the library and return them to the circulation desk
  • Handle check in and check out of A/V equipment as needed
  • Occasionally conduct library inventory of books and journals
  • Sort and shelve books, magazines, journals, and other materials
  • Pick up library mail from the mail room
  • Straighten the shelves of books, update aisle markers as needed, replace bookends
  • Shift tight areas on the shelves to make room for new items
  • Search the stacks for books reported missing or billed for replacement.
  • Occasionally dust and clean book shelves
  • Other duties as assigned

Must be able to work with minimal supervision, be committed to providing excellent customer service, maintain confidentiality, and be able to work nights and weekends.

Photography Intern, 1 position

Purpose of Job:
Assist the marketing office with photography efforts

Duties & Responsibilities:
• Taking high-quality photos at on-campus events.
• Uploading and delivering photos to the marketing office in a timely manner.
• Helping the marketing office build a library of classroom photos.
• Assisting with other tasks as needed.

Society, Culture and Discourse

Student Assistant, 1 position
Time Frame:  Fall/Spring
Hours per Week:  4-5

Purpose of Job:
To assist in supporting the work of the department and its faculty.

Duties & Responsibilities:
This work study position provides support to the department faculty members. Duties include word processing; making photocopies and scanning documents to make pdfs; researching information, picking up and delivering mail; organizing department materials; administrative support of events; updating and attending to social media for the department; and posting and arranging information on bulletin boards. Some understanding of Spanish is helpful for support of the Spanish portion of the department.

Job Qualifications:
* Must be organized, trustworthy, responsible, and responsive
* Must have good communication skills
* Must have the ability to use office equipment and computer using standard programs such as Word. Knowledge of such programs as Excel, Publisher, etc., would be helpful
* Familiar with social media and able to use it to help support the department
