Teaching Philosophy

My goal as an educator is to help students think critically and realize the importance of lifelong learning and mutual respect. I strive to foster relationships and create a learning environment where everyone supports each other, feels comfortable participating and asking questions, and drives each other to be the best they can be. I will lay the didactic foundation and challenge students to work together to be both educators and learners in hopes that they will embrace the opportunity to grow inside the classroom and beyond.

You have to be confused before you can reach a new level of understanding anything – Dudley Herschbach

Profile

Professional Background

I worked at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab (f.k.a. Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago) primarily in Outpatient Pediatrics for 8 years. During my time there, I was able to work with an incredible multidisciplinary team, patients from around the world, and had countless opportunities and experiences that have shaped me into the clinician and educator I am today. My family moved to Dubuque, Iowa in 2023 when I joined Clarke University in the Physical Therapy Department as an assistant professor. I currently work at a local PT clinic treating neurologic conditions in addition to teaching full time at Clarke.
