Teaching Philosophy

My goal in the classroom is to create an environment that not only teaches the foundational concepts, theoretical knowledge, and skills required to be a competent clinician who is prepared for success but an environment that encourages and demonstrates the value of authenticity, integrity, accountability, and freedom. I will encourage students to take the lessons and skills learned and find a way to integrate the knowledge with their personal values so their presence in the clinic and community resonates confidence, compassion, competence, and authenticity.

Let yourself be silently drawn by the strange pull of what you really love. It will not lead you astray. – Rumi

We can choose courage or we can choose comfort, but we can't have both. Not at the same time. - Brene Brown
