Frieda Lee to perform at Clarke

Clarke University is pleased to announce Frieda Lee is scheduled to perform Saturday, Feb. 9 at 7 p.m. in Jansen Music Hall on the campus of Clarke University. In partnership with the Dubuque Arts Council, the Frieda Lee concert is part of Clarke University’s Arts at Clarke series. Lee is an Artist in Residence with the Dubuque Arts Council.Lee has combined a life-long love of music with a dual career as performer and educator. After graduating with a degree in music education from Penn State University, she began a long career teaching vocal music in the Midwest. Lee is the lead vocalist with the distinguished musical organization, Chicago Jazz Orchestra, whose repertoire is dedicated to the musical genius of Count Basie, Duke Ellington and other legendary composers. Her performances include adult contemporary and mainstream jazz styles. Lee has performed at every major jazz showcase in the Chicago area and has developed and presented workshops for students and teachers throughout the Midwest.Just as the university’s nationally recognized fine arts departments continually present the highest-quality performances and exhibits, Arts at Clarke features some of the world’s greatest performers.The Dubuque Arts Council residency program presents multicultural and diverse artistic and educational opportunities to expand cultural horizons and improve the quality of life within the Dubuque community with school and community-based performances.
