Clarke Adds Second Master Degree for Business

By Clarke News  |  June 17, 2013

Clarke University has been granted approval by the Higher Learning Commission to offer a second master’s degree for business. The Master of Organizational Leadership (MOL) degree will teach students how to initiate change and to lead an organization’s most valuable resources, its human capital. The MOL program will be an additional offering to Clarke’s current Master of Business Administration (MBA) program. The MOL is for students either in or preparing for positions of leadership within their organizations. The MOL focuses on:  organizational leadership with emphasis on leading self and others in the modern world, effective teams, organizational behavior, executive presence, ethical behavior and systems leadership. One differentiating component of the Clarke MOL program is a partnership with Dardis Communications ( www.dardiscommunications.com), a developer of professional leadership and coaching programs. Dardis will provide Clarke’s MOL candidates with three one-credit, interactive workshop courses that focus on leadership presentation skills, high-impact leadership, and convincing communication skills.”The Master of Organizational Leadership program at Clarke allows students to set themselves apart from the competition,” said Joan Lingen, BVM, Ph.D., provost and vice president for academic affairs. “This program goes beyond theory and will provide interactive, experiential learning to allow students to take their leadership skills to the next level and apply the concepts. Others will recognize them as a leader as they gain the confidence, leadership presence, communication and persuasion skills that it takes to truly be a leader.”The MOL program expands Clarke University’s offerings of graduate programs within the business department and compliments the existing well-established MBA program. The MOL program is qualitatively focused on concepts and skills needed to create a positive, results-oriented organizational culture that harnesses the potential of its employees and maximizes the organization’s performance. The MBA program emphasizes management and administration functions to prepare students to manage business units and cross-functional teams whereas the MOL is designed for individuals with a broad-base of educational backgrounds.
