Computer Information Systems

Bachelor of Arts

Our Computer Information Systems degree is right for you. Are you a creative problem solver? Do you like to tinker with your computer and play and develop games and think pig picture? Our Computer Information Systems (CIS) major prepares you to analyze and re-engineer business processes, to design and develop web-based applications, and to manage these information systems as strategic resources. CIS is the discipline covering the application of people, technologies, and procedures – collectively called information systems – to solve business problems. In CIS, the core is information: how to get it, how to organize it, how to make sense of it, and how to protect it. Programming is how the CIS major presents that information, via web pages, apps, and personalized reports.

  • Our CIS graduates are in high demand and often accept high-paying positions long before graduation.
  • Clarke University’s CIS department is one of the oldest small college programs in the world, founded in 1965 by the first woman ever to receive a Ph.D. in computer science, Sister Mary Kenneth Keller.
  • Our faculty boasts 20+ years of experience.
  • Class size is small, allowing for intense individual attention and instruction.
