Clarke University is proud to host summer academies and camps for middle school and high school aged students. Our academies and camps are hosted on the campus of Clarke University and are directed by Clarke University faculty, staff, alumni and skilled professionals in the computer science, food science, nursing, social work and music industries.
June 5-7, 2017
Age: Entering grades 9–12
Cost: $325 Resident/$200 Non-Resident
Design, build and test 3D virtual reality games using Oculus Rift and Touch. The academy will be directed by Clarke University faculty.

Dubuque Symphony Orchestra String Camp
June 20-25, 2017
Age: Entering grades 7–9 (or student musicians with min. 2 years ensemble experience)
Cost: $250 (Tuition Assistance is available)
Are you a budding string player looking to sharpen your skills and explore your creativity? Look no further than the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra’s immersive Summer String Camp! Guest-artist Diego Piedra will be returning to work and perform with students throughout the week, along with a fantastic faculty of DSO musicians. Students will receive one-on-one lessons, rehearse and perform in ensembles, attend group discussions geared to their musical interests, and much more! The camp will culminate with a performance at the DSO’s Summer Melodies concert at the Dubuque Arboretum.
Dubuque Symphony Chamber Music Camp
June 19-25, 2017
Age: Entering grades 10-12 (advanced 9th graders and graduated seniors welcome)
Cost: $200 (Tuition Assistance is available)
Designed to challenge and support high school string players, the Summer Chamber Music Camp gives students the opportunity to refine and broaden their musical skills. Working closely with guest-artist Diego Piedra and a wonderful faculty of DSO musicians, students will receive one-on-one lessons, ensemble coachings, special topics classes, perform alongside faculty, and much more! The camp will culminate with a showcase performance featuring both camp students and faculty.
Culinary Boot Camp
June 26-29, 2017
Age: Entering grades 6–9
This camp will teach the basics of food, flavor, cooking, and the value of learning how to “play with your food.” Students bake bread, make homemade ice cream and prepare a meal to serve to their parents and guests at the conclusion of the camp on June 29. The academy will be directed by Clarke University staff and faculty. For previous Culinary Boot Camp attendees: the skills, menus, and foods will be different!
