Associate Professor of Sociology
Rachel Daack received her MA in Geography from the University of Iowa and her Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Iowa. A member of the Social Work Department, she teaches Race and Ethnicity and Social Work Research to social work students. She has academic interests in environmental justice, the nineteenth century US, and education's intersections with race and class. Professor Daack has been building community-based research opportunities for the social work program. Her students have conducted research on after-school programming for tweens in Dubuque, support programs for local teen parents, the availability of accessible emergency housing in the Midwest, and relationships between college-student volunteers and Dubuque's Multicultural Family Center. She enjoys gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family.
