Leading Lady

Why did you choose Clarke?
I chose Clarke for a variety of reasons. It was close to home and I liked the small campus. I liked the friendly atmosphere and being able to really get to know my professors.

Do you play a sport or do you support Crusader athletics? What makes it fun?
I run track, and I really enjoy the team atmosphere. I can count on my teammates and coaches for everything. We try to keep practice fun even when we have a hard workout, and we pass the time at long track meets by spending time together.

Of the other activities you are involved with, how have they added to your college experience?
Being involved in other clubs has given me the opportunity to hold leadership positions. It has helped me learn time management and responsibility. These activities have only enriched my college experience.

Did you receive financial aid? If so, how did it help you?
I received several scholarships from Clarke. I plan to attend medical school following graduation, so these scholarships assist me and help me work towards my goal of becoming a doctor.

What do you enjoy about campus?
I enjoy how close the campus is. I can get to class in five minutes and can get from one classroom to another without even having to go outside. It is very convenient.

What do you like about Dubuque?
Dubuque is a neat town. There are always new stores and restaurants to check out. There may be lots of hills and the roads can be confusing, but the view is beautiful on the Mississippi River.

Do any faculty/staff members stand out? If so, why?
Definitely Mary Ellen!  She always smiles when she greets you and asks how your day is going. Laura Wolter is another one. She would do anything for anyone and is always pleasant and cheery.

So far, what has been your most memorable Clarke experience?
My most memorable Clarke experience has been going to Nationals for Track. It was such an exhilarating experience, and it really motivated me to continue working hard and bettering myself.

If you had the chance to tell a prospective student one GREAT thing about Clarke, what would it be?
Clarke is the perfect fit for me. There is something for everyone here and you will never be bored.
