Why did you choose Clarke?
I chose Clarke because I loved the student to teacher ratio. I didn't want to be just a number at a big college. And since I'm from Dubuque, Clarke is super close to home.
Do you play a sport or do you support Crusader athletics? What makes it fun?
I am a thrower on the women's track and field team. The people on my team make it fun, and we get to travel to different places. My favorite sport to watch at Clarke is definitely men's volleyball. It's so intense. I love it!
Of the other activities you are involved with, how have they added to your college experience?
I'm very involved on campus which has allowed me to meet a lot of new people and to step out of my comfort zone. I think it's super important to step out of your comfort zone and try new things in college. It's like a new start.
Did you receive financial aid? If so, how did it help you?
I received a scholarship for track and a decent amount of money for academics. It's helped me a lot. Every little bit counts because it all adds up in the end.
What do you enjoy about campus?
I love the atrium! It's so pretty, especially in the fall and winter.
What do you like about Dubuque?
I like how everything is pretty close. It only takes a half hour tops to get across town.
Do any faculty/staff members stand out? If so, why?
Clarke has a great variety of faculty/staff members who all bring different characteristics to the campus dynamic. Tim Boffelli, the psychology professor, is one of the most popular faculty members. I've never had him for a class, but I want to take one of his classes just for the experience. I've heard he is very interesting! Also Laura Wolter, one of the custodians. She is an amazing woman and makes the best cookies.
So far, what has been your most memorable Clarke experience?
My most memorable experience at Clarke was actually when I came to VIEW weekend during my senior year of high school. I fell in love with Clarke and met so many great people who I am still friends with today!
If you had the chance to tell a prospective student one GREAT thing about Clarke, what would it be?
The people! Everyone is so nice and ALWAYS willing to help.
