Clarke Drama Department to be Featured at Regional Theater Festival

The Clarke College Drama Department has been selected to showcase a scene from a recent production at the Region 5 festival of the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival on January 23 in Ames, Iowa.

The scene, from Clarke’s performance of “The Playboy of the Western World,” is one of only 11 scenes from the region selected to be featured at the festival. Clarke’s region includes school in seven states: Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota.

The scene will be performed by Clarke students Melissa Dahle, of Watertown, SD, and Valerie Heitzman, of Dubuque, Iowa, as well as Joseph Klinebriel, Clarke assistant professor of drama/speech. The performance was directed by Carol Blitgen, BVM, Ph.D., Clarke professor of drama/speech.
