Author Thomas Melville to Speak at Clarke College

The Clarke College Campus Ministry Office, Dubuque Peace, Loras Peace and Justice and Hope House Catholic Worker House will present “Witness to Terror in Central America: An Iowa Missioner’s Experience and Lessons for Today” on Tuesday, Nov. 14, at 6:30 p.m. in the Atrium Conference Room on the Clarke campus. The event is free and the public is invited to attend.

The presentation will be given by Thomas Melville, author of “Through A Glass Darkly,” a book about the life of former share-cropping Iowa farmer and Catholic priest Fr. Ronald Hennessey and his personal experiences with the oppressive practices of a series of Guatemalan governments. Dinner with Melville will be held at 5 p.m. in Clarke’s Student Dining Room for those interested. Cost for dinner is $7. At 7:30 p.m., there will be a commissioning of those participating in SOA Watch, followed by book signing and social with Melville.
