President's Office

Joanne BurrowsMeet the President

We celebrated a wonderful Commencement weekend with our graduates and their families in May, and now we welcome the ‘lazy’ days of summer!  Summer at Clarke University is far from  lazy.  Our community  will spend these next few months recharging and revitalizing both ourselves and our campus as we prepare for the arrival of students in August.

A variety of campus improvement projects are underway to refresh and enhance spaces throughout campus.  Windows are being replaced, the gym floor re-sealed, walls painted and new carpet laid in preparation for the start of the new academic year.

Most of our students are home for the summer, but we have a strong group on campus taking classes, employed as summer staff or participating in internships.  Many students are away for the summer traveling, working and interning across the country.  We look forward to their return and the flurry of activity and excitement they bring back with them in the fall.

Summer at Clarke also translates to summer registration and orientation activities for new Clarke students.  Our entire campus community plays a role in these events as we welcome the newest members of the Clarke family.

We are also hosting summer camps and academies for middle and high school students in June and preparing for the annual Iowa Private College Week in August.

As you explore our website and learn more about all Clarke has to offer, I hope you consider a summer campus visit.  As we welcome with open arms the Iowa summer months of sunshine, warmth and fresh picked sweet corn, we welcome you to come visit Clarke and feel the impact of this very special place.
