River Quest Credit Options

Three options are available.

Option 1. Non-Credit Course – 3 hours
Total Cost: $0

For this option you will register for a non-credit course EDUC 480-1 in order to have access this year to Clarke’s Nicholas J. Schrup library facilities, Clarke email and My.Info (the Clarke student information system which allows you to view grades and transcript).

This may NOT be used for license renewal since it carries no credit.

You are required to participate in all grant activities (*see expectations) as a condition of accepting Title II funding. You will receive a certificate of participation in the River Quest Institute in April 2011.

Option 2. Undergraduate Credit – 3 hours
Total Cost: $375

For this option you will register for undergraduate credit for EDUC 480-2. Undergraduate credits from regionally accredited Colleges may be used to renew an educational license (i.e. recertification credit). Clarke University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association.

As a Clarke Student you will have access this year to the Clarke’s Nicholas J. Schrup Library for, Clarke email and My.Info (the Clarke student information system which allows you to view grades and transcript).

You are required to participate in all grant activities (*see expectations) as a condition of accepting Title II funding. You will receive a certificate of participation in the River Quest Institute in April 2011. Credit will be awarded in May 2011 following the final follow-up meeting and grading of the projects.

Option 3. Graduate Credit – 3 hours
Total Cost: $585

For this option you will register for graduate credit for EDGR 580-1. Graduate credits from regionally accredited Colleges may be used to renew an educational license (i.e. recertification credit). Clarke University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association.

You do not need to apply for admittance into the MAE (Master in Arts in Education) degree although this credit may be used as elective credit in the Instructional Leadership track of that program should you choose to pursue that degree at Clarke University. You will need to provide evidence of an undergraduate degree by providing a copy of your undergraduate transcript or a copy of your teaching license.

You are required to participate in all grant activities (*see expectations) as a condition of accepting Title II funding. In addition you will be expected to complete a well-cited Research Paper related to Elementary Science pedagogy, knowledge or skills. It should be from 12-17 pages in length and must have a minimum of five citations from current scholarly journals in the area. It must be completed and submitted to Andrea Bixler by April 15, 2010. You will receive a certificate of participation in the River Quest Institute in April 2011. Credit will be awarded in May 2011 following the final follow-up meeting and grading of the research papers.
