The Clarke College Drama Department will present “Proof” by David Auburn, on Thursday, April 21, through Sunday, April 24, at 8 p.m. in Terence Donaghoe Hall on the Clarke campus. Tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for seniors and $5 for non-Clarke students. The public is invited to attend and all seats are general admission.
“Proof” has been one of the hottest plays of the recent Broadway seasons. In 2001 this highly acclaimed production was selected for a Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award. In its very fine line between brilliance and mental illness, it seems a distant relative of the Oscar-winning film, “A Beautiful Mind.” At the heart of the play is Catherine who must deal with the death of her brilliant but unstable father. With the arrival of her meddling sister and the attentions of her father’s former student, Catherine is caught between romance and intrigue and wonders just how much of her father’s genius or madness she will inherit.
Cast members for the production include: Matt Franta, of Elkader, Iowa; Kat Hermes, of Evanston, Ill.; Brigid Kelley, of Davenport, Iowa; and Clarke Assistant Professor of Drama/Speech Joseph Klinebriel. Professor of Drama/Speech Carol Blitgen, BVM, Ph.D. will direct the performance and Holly Feser, of Manning, Iowa, is the assistant to the director and stage manager for the production.
