posted on April 20, 2005

The Clarke College Campus Ministry Office will host “Into the Streets,” a Dubuque community volunteer day, on Saturday, April 23, from 8 a.m. to noon. Teams of Clarke students, faculty and staff will participate in the event.

Volunteers will meet at the Clarke Student Activity Center (SAC) that morning and will be assigned a location to provide service. Teams will work at over 30 sites for the day, including painting the Girl Scout Camp, downtown clean-up with St. Mark’s Community Center, grounds work for the Dubuque Arboretum.

Into the Streets has been held at Clarke for six years, and each semester about 200 people participate. “Into the Streets is a great way to take action in solving social injustice,” said Into the Streets student coordinator Ashley Wyatt. “The solutions to our problems can be found in the strengths, talents, and experience of each individual.”

A complete list of sites is available for media interested in covering the event. For more information, contact the Clarke College Public Relations Office at (563)588-6318.
