Allegro Chamber Trio to Perform at Clarke, Feb. 14

posted on January 16, 2005

The Clarke College Arts at Clarke Gold Series will host a performance by the Allegro Chamber Trio on Tuesday, Feb. 14, at 7:30 p.m. in Jansen Music Hall on the Clarke campus. Tickets for the event are $5 and can be reserved beginning Tuesday, Jan. 31, by calling (563)584-8642 weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

The Allegro Chamber Trio brings to its audiences the lovely tone colors of the rarely heard combination of flute, viola, and harp. This alliance of instruments has been authenticated by the master Impressionist Claude Debussy. For 12 years, the trio has toured the United States and the group’s interpretation of Debussy’s ‘Sonata’ has been featured on National Public Radio’s ‘Performance Today.’

The trio features violinist Bruce Williams. Former principal violist in the Haifa Symphony Orchestra, Williams is the principal violist of the Austin (Texas) Symphony, the Laredo Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Victoria Bach Festival Orchestra. He has been recognized as Austin’s Instrumentalist of the Year and is the premiere violinist in Texas chamber music.
