Clarke Music Ensembles, Anton Belov Headline ‘Blessed Christmas’

By Clarke News  |  November 20, 2015

November 20, 2015:

Clarke choirs and instrumental ensembles, along with the Dyersville Beckman High School Choir and baritone Anton Belov, will highlight this year’s “For a Blessed Christmas” concert at Clarke University.

Staged in the beauty of Clarke’s Sacred Heart Chapel, “For a Blessed Christmas” is a favorite holiday tradition in Dubuque. It is a moving portrayal of the Christmas story through an exciting mix of narration and musical performances.

This year’s candlelight event will feature almost 100 singers and players, conducted by Jeremy Mims and David Resnick, and will include all of the Clarke choirs, the wind and string ensembles, the Beckman choir, and Belov singing beloved Christmas favorites.

A native of Russia and a graduate of the Juilliard Opera Center, Belov, who now lives in Portland, Ore., has appeared with numerous companies and orchestras throughout the United States and has earned critical acclaim for his portrayals of characters as diverse as Count di Luna, Don Giovanni, Escamillo, Count Almaviva, Doctor Malatesta and Eugene Onegin. Equally at home with opera, oratorio and concert repertoire, Belov presented over 60 recitals throughout the U.S., appearing at such venues as Carnegie Hall in New York City and the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Belov is the winner of eight vocal competitions including the George London Competition, the Young Concert Artists International Competition and the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions.
