Social Work Expert to Discuss ‘Healing Grief and Loss in Youth’

Amelia Franck Meyer has spent the past 25 years working with youth in out-of-home care. She believes that understanding what happens to youth in out-of-home care, and the psychological impacts of those events, is critical to being able to understand how to work with youth in a way that promotes compassion and healing. Franck Meyer asserts that when we know better, we must do better. On Tuesday, Nov. 18, Franck Meyer, CEO of Anu Family Services in St. Paul, Minn., will discuss “Understanding and Healing Grief and Loss in Youth Who Experience Trauma” during a workshop from noon to 3 p.m. in Jansen Music Hall on the Clarke University Campus. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. The cost is $20 for general admission; students are free. Three hours of CEUs and lunch are available for purchase. Refreshments will be served. Franck Meyer has been the CEO of Anu Family Services since 2001. Anu is a child welfare agency located in Wisconsin and Minnesota which is producing nationally recognized child permanence and placement stability outcomes for children in out-of-home care.  She has presented nationally and internationally on topics including understanding grief, loss and trauma for children living in out-of-home care, child wellbeing, child permanence and placement stability, change management, social work leadership, management, supervision, and many other topics. Franck Meyer has consulted through Casey Family Programs to provide training and consultation on child welfare practices in counties and states throughout the country. Franck Meyer is an advanced practice social worker in Wisconsin and a licensed independent social worker in Minnesota.
