HIST 200 INTRODUCTION TO PRIMARY RESEARCH 3 hours
An investigation into the research sources available in government, public and private historical archives, libraries and museums. This course includes exploration and preliminary planning for graduate study and/or professional careers in the fields of history and political science. HIST 202 UNITED STATES CONSTITUTIONAL LAW 3 hours
A case study approach in historical perspective to major concepts in the US constitution as interpreted by the courts. Crosslisted as POLI 203.

HIST 395 INTERNSHIPS CV
The department supervises a number of internships in museums, political campaigns, and local and state government. Prerequisite: Consent.
HIST 480 ADVANCED TOPICS IN HISTORY CV

HIST 490 INDEPENDENT STUDY CV
Individual research, reading or creative work directly related to the major field with frequent conferences with adviser and presentation of results for department evaluation. Prerequisite: Consent.
HIST 499 HISTORY CAPSTONE 3 hours
This course provides a focal point and closure for a liberal arts education within the context of the history major. As a departmental offering, this course focuses on personal introspection regarding the knowledge and practical skills acquired through the study of history. Students engage in independent research resulting in a public presentation of historical analysis and interpretation. General education and major outcomes are integral to course assessment. Prerequisite for HIST 499: Ordinarily, a student must have senior standing with a minimum of 42 credit hours in general education completed.
