Frankie Alvarado knows more now about being a star than ever before. The former Clarke College student was a finalist last year in “La Academia USA,” a Latin American television singing competition.
Alvarado will return to Clarke College on Friday, Nov. 10, for a performance at 8 p.m. in Jansen Music Hall on the Clarke campus. The tickets, which are free for Clarke College students, are $12 in advance and $15 at the door. Reservations can be made by calling Cammie Dean, Clarke’s director of student life, at (563)588-6508. Since competing on La Academia USA, Alvarado has toured across the country with the cast of the show and is working hard to continue his new-found fame. According to his Web site, in addition to his touring, he has recorded for a Mexican movie soundtrack to be internationally released.
