The field of communication is broad, diverse and changing at the speed of light. New and expanding career opportunities are flourishing, and the Clarke University Communication Department is helping its students take advantage of the demand. Clarke has long been recognized as a leader among colleges in information technology. Our curriculum is responsive to the changing needs of the industries that employ our graduates and, consequently, the program is heavily focused on state-of-the art applications. As a result, communication graduates may anticipate careers in electronic/desktop publishing, print and broadcast journalism, public relations writing and management, advertising copywriting and design, corporate communication, marketing, Web publishing and multimedia and interactive presentations.
The department combines a theoretical foundation in the liberal arts and communication studies with demanding sequences of specialized courses in applied media skills. The faculty — which is well grounded in academic theory and international professional experience — provides the theoretical underpinning to guide students in creative real-world applications, including the creation of a work portfolio. Small classes promote interactive, in-depth learning with instructors who spend extensive time with students.
