The Clarke University Music Department will host its annual “Musical Menus on Broadway” on Friday, March 25 and Saturday, March 26, in the Wahlert Atrium on the Clarke campus. The event features five-course gourmet meal and the musical styling of various Clarke music ensembles, student soloists, faculty and guest performers.
Cost for the dinner and musical review is $40 per person with premier seating available both nights for $50 per person. Reservations are required and can be made by calling (563)584-8642 weekdays between 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Seating for the event begins at 6 p.m. each night, with service starting at 6:30 p.m.
Funds raised from Musical Menus help fund various projects of the Clarke music department, including costs for new equipment as well as travel for tours of the university’s ensembles. The evening will include solo and small ensemble performances as well as performances by the Clarke Collegiate Singers, the Clarke Cantabile Singers and Clarke Instrumental Ensembles.
“Musical Menus on Broadway has become a wonderful tradition at Clarke over the years and it has been exciting to see it grow into one of our most popular events,” said Clarke Associate Professor of Music John Lease, who will retire at the end of this academic year. “It is a time-honored tradition at Clarke because the students love to perform and the audiences love to see the amazing talent that Clarke produces.”
To celebrate Lease’s last Musical Menus at Clarke, this year’s event will also feature a number of guest performers who have worked with him throughout his time at Clarke.
