Clarke and UD Music Groups Join to Honor Veterans

posted on November 4, 2010

Music ensembles from Clarke University and the University of Dubuque will present a musical tribute to area veterans on Monday, Nov. 8, at 7:30 p.m. in the Jansen Music Hall on the Clarke campus. Admission is free and the public, especially veterans and their families, are invited to attend.

The concert will feature patriotic songs that honor veterans. Performers include the Clarke and UD instrumental ensembles as well as the Clarke Collegiate Singers and Clarke Cantabile Singers. The Color Guard from American Legion Post 6 in Dubuque will also contribute its services to the event.

Veterans Day was originally known as Armistice Day, which signaled the end of World War I. In 1984, it was changed to Veterans Day to honor all those serving in the Armed Forces and veterans of all wars.
