It is official and historic. Clarke College is now Clarke University.
In May, the institution's Board of Trustees voted unanimously to change the name and the change took effect on August 1, 2010.
"Becoming Clarke University marks the start of a new era for this great institution," said President Joanne M. Burrows, SC, Ph.D. "It is a name that proudly communicates the broad spectrum of learners we serve while also speaking to the Clarke of the future – one that will meet the changing needs of students while maintaining the very hallmarks of Clarke."
