Who was Margaret Mann?
Margaret Mann is one of the five founding members of the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. She was born on March 7, 1805, an only child whose formal education was limited; however, she had talents in business and administration and before leaving Ireland to teach immigrants in America, she ran a millinery business that employed some twenty women and girls in Dublin. In early Clarke history Margaret Mann was the academic administrator of St. Joseph Academy, a forerunner of the current Clarke University.
