Clarke College invites members of the Dubuque community to a benefit concert and prayer service to benefit the people of Haiti following the recent, tragic earthquake in the country. The event will be held on Sunday, Feb. 21, at 7:30 p.m. in Sacred Heart Chapel on the Clarke campus. There is no admission cost for the event, but freewill donations will be accepted and encouraged.
Organized by the Clarke music department, the concert will feature performances by the Clarke Collegiate Singers as well as by members of Clarke’s music faculty, representatives from other area colleges and affiliates of area music organizations.
All proceeds will go directly to charities involved in Haitian relief efforts.
“We hope that this concert is more than a way to raise money,” said Brian Burns, assistant professor of music at Clarke, who is spearheading the event. “It is also designed to fill a need in the community by providing a single place for people to offer their thoughts, hopes and prayers for the relief of the afflicted. It speaks to Clarke’s mission as a Catholic institution.”
