The Clarke Drama Department will present “Educating Rita” by Willy Russell Thursday, April 23, through Sunday, April 26 in the Terence Donaghoe Hall on the Clarke campus. Performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. on April 23- 25 and at 2 p.m. on April 26. Tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for seniors and $5 for students.

Rita, a young English hairdresser, is dissatisfied with her work and social life and goes out to seek an education. Frank is a middle aged College lecturer who hates the pretentions of College culture and has a disillusioned outlook on life. The two have an immediate and profound effect on one another and the question becomes; who educates who?

In this two-person production, senior drama major Valerie Heitzman, of Dubuque, Iowa, will portray Rita and Joe Klinebriel, MFA, assistant professor of drama, as Frank. “Educating Rita” is being directed by Carol Blitgen, BVM, Ph.D., professor of drama, and the assistant director is Erin Kane, a senior drama major from Dubuque, Iowa.
