Medical Conditions

Students may request special accommodations due to medical conditions that might be improved by basic accommodation differences, such as a single room or an air conditioner.  To make such a request, have your attending physician/counselor submit a letter to residence life outlining your diagnosis and how the provision will enhance your treatment protocol.  Your physician’s letter or note will then be reviewed by an appropriate professional at Clarke (health services, counseling center, etc.) and a recommendation will be forwarded to residence life.

  • Individuals provided with a “medical single” are responsible for the additional charge for a single room.
  • Students who are approved for air conditioning units will be billed $100 for the use, resource cost, and placement of the units. The charge will be assessed each time they move to a new room.
  • Due to the age of the building and the type of windows, air conditioning units are not compatible with all rooms in Mary Frances Hall.  Designated female rooms in Mary Frances Hall that can support an air conditioning unit are located in the Letterwing area.  Designated male rooms that support an air conditioning unit are 340 & 341.  All air conditioning unit requests for Mary Frances Hall rooms must be received by June 25 for priority consideration.  All air conditioner compatible spaces in Mary Frances Hall are on a first come, first serve basis.
