2. Subject Specific databases

  • Is your topic in a particular subject area?

If so, use a subject specific database. Subject specific databases specialize in a particular subject. Many of the articles indexed in these databases are from scholarly sources. Examples of subject specific databases and the kinds of articles they identify are:

Business Source Premier
This primarily full text database indexes many areas of business including management, marketing, economics, finance, accounting and international business. Also includes articles from over 1,110 peer-reviewed journals.

MEDLINEŽ
and PubMedŽ

 

PubMed indexes MEDLINE and other life science journals. MEDLINE is a database of journal citations and abstracts. Subjects covered include medicine, nursing, dentistry, the health care system, veterinary medicine and the pre-clinical sciences.
SIRS Researcher
Indexes articles from domestic and international newspapers, magazines, journals and government publications on social, scientific, economic, and political issues worldwide. Indexing uses Library of Congress subject headings
