Meet the New
Alumni Relations Team
Director of Alumni
Nicole Breitbach is the new Director of Alumni Relations at Clarke
University. She has been working at Clarke for the past two years in
the annual fund office, and prior to that worked with the phonathon on
campus through RuffaloCODY.
Nicole has her B.A. in Communication Studies with an International
Business Certificate from the University of Iowa, and is currently
working on her MBA here at Clarke. She is a native of Dubuque, and her
mom is a Clarke alumna from 2001. Nicole loves to travel and is excited
for the opportunities to visit different Clarke alumni across the
Rey Aquino Mendoza
Jordan is from Honolulu, Hawaii and has
spent the past four years at Clarke University earning his bachelor's
degree in business administration. He participated in the Track and
Field program and holds the school record in the 60m dash. Jordan loves
to travel and since he
left the Hawaiian Islands, he has visited nine different states.

Dr. Sunil Malapati
Associate Professor of Biochemistry
Dr. Malapati, associate professor of biochemistry at Clarke, developed
an early fascination with food and cultivated his expertise during the
past decade. He is a chef trained in South Indian cuisine and
developed, and continues to teach, a course in food chemistry as a way
to introduce science to non-science students. He is currently
overseeing the development of a Food Science degree at Clarke, due to
start in Fall 2014. Read more...
of Organizational Leadership Kicks-Off Fall 2013
The new Master of Organizational Leadership (MOL)
program officially kicks off this fall at Clarke University. This new
degree program focuses on building effective leaders for today's
competitive environment. Students enrolled for the fall bring a variety
of undergraduate degrees including; Engineering, Communication,
Spanish, Business Administration, Psychology, Sociology, Biology, Art,
Management, Marketing and Aeronautical Technology. If you are
interested in sharpening your leadership skills, and developing a

New! Food Science Major
Clarke University will introduce a food science major for the fall of
2014. Food science is an applied
science in which chemical, biological and physical principles are
applied to study the nature of food and its deterioration. The studies
are utilized to evaluate and improve consumer foods and associated

As work continues on the Center for Science Inquiry, the renovation of
Catherine Byrne Hall is also in
full swing. CBH is Clarke University's main classroom building, and
also houses several faculty offices.
Clarke University will play a major role in two
productions at the Grand Opera House in Dubuque this
summer as faculty, students and alumni are part of the cast and crew in
"Les Miserables" and "9 to 5."
Clarke is again hosting Japanese students from the University of
Kagoshima in Fukoda, Japan for 2 weeks
from Monday, Sept. 2 through Sunday, Sept. 25. Five female students and
one male will be on campus
to learn English, American culture and experience family life through
home stays with area families.
We are looking for families who would be interested in hosting one or
two students for either one or both
weekends of Friday, Sept. 6 through Sunday, Sept. 8 and Friday, Sept.
13 through Sunday, Sept. 15.
