The following steps should be followed by high school students in applying to Clarke College:
-
APPLY ONLINE NOW FOR FREE or print and complete our downloadable application and return it to the Admissions Office, Clarke College, 1550 Clarke Drive, Dubuque, Iowa, 52001 or fax to (563) 588-6789. Clarke has a different application process for international students.
- Request that official high school/college transcripts be sent to Clarke College. The transcripts should include class rank, cumulative grade point average, and senior subjects in progress. Students admitted on the basis of a sixth or seventh semester transcript must also have an eighth semester transcript certifying graduation sent to the Admissions Office prior to enrollment.
NOTE: International students must request official academic transcripts from each secondary and post-secondary institution attended. All transcripts must be accompanied by an official translation if English is not the language of instruction. Transcripts must have an original and legible seal or stamp of the school that issued the document. A photocopy of the seal stamp is not acceptable. If only one original of a transcript is available, a photocopy of the original document may be sent. This photocopy must be certified by the school that issued the original transcript.
- If official test scores are not included on high school transcript, request that your ACT, SAT I, PAA, or TOEFL score report be sent from the testing agency.
Enter the Clarke Code (1290 for ACT; 6099 for SAT I; 6099 for TOEFL) on your registration form.
NOTE: International students must request an official score report from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB).
- The Admission Committee may require you to come to campus for a personal interview prior to making an admission decision.
- Transfer students must submit completed Transfer Recommendation Form.
After admission has been granted, international students are responsible for:
- A completed Certification of Finances (not required for admission decision but mandatory before I-20 can be sent)
- A nonrefundable comprehensive $200 tuition deposit must be submitted before an I-20 will be sent. Submission of this deposit signifies acceptance of Clarke's offer of admission.
- Once the Certification of Finances has been submitted indicating sufficient financial support and the tuition deposit has been received, the Form I-20, which is the Certificate of Eligibility for non-immigrant "F" student status, will be sent to the student. This form then must be submitted to the Consul in the American Embassy for the issuance of the "F" student visa and finally to the immigration inspector at the port of entry into the U.S. for issuance of an entry permit.
Every applicant for admission to Clarke is considered on an individual basis. The college attempts to select for admission those students who appear to be able to benefit most from its educational programs.
Because past academic success is an indicator of future success, a student's high school record is of primary importance in the evaluation process. Particular attention is paid to cumulative high school rank in relation to the overall type of academic program pursued. Scores from the ACT or SAT I also are considered.
